Coleg Ceredigion pupil to perform in London: Ross Parry chosen to attend summer school at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama

A STUDENT from Coleg Ceredigion is soon to be following in the footsteps of acting legends such as Ewan McGregor, Daniel Craig and Orlando Bloom after being accepted to attend a prestigious acting course in London’s famous West End.

Ross Parry, who is currently in his first year studying a Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing Arts, will make his West End debut this summer with the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, which is one of the top drama schools in the UK.

Ross will be working with ‘West-End Stage’, the UK’s leading theatre summer school programme for young people aged between eight and 21, which allows coursegoers the chance to perform at Her Majesty’s Theatre in the heart of the West End, which is also home to Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera.

Ross said: “I am absolutely delighted, amazed and extremely excited to have been accepted to study at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama this summer. When I’ve completed my current studies, in Performing Arts at Coleg Ceredigion, I hope to apply to the Guildhall on a full-time basis or continue to university to study drama at degree level.”

He will be joining a host of other students on the Guildhall School programme, and will be put through his paces singing, dancing and performing drama. Additionally, Ross will be receiving specific industry-based workshops which are set to be led by West End stars.

Students will also be taken to the hit West End musical ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ and given the opportunity to question the cast during a private questioning and answering session, as well as attending an impressive masterclass led by some of the cast members.

Ashley Wallington, Curriculum Manager for the Performing Arts at Coleg Ceredigion, said: “This is such a brilliant opportunity for Ross, not only to attend the summer school but also to work alongside industry professionals. It will be a life changer!”

Ross concluded: “ I always dreamt of performing in London’s West End and I can’t believe I’m actually going to do this in August. I feel very honoured!”
