THE FIRE Services community safety team from Pembrokeshire scooped the top award for Community Achievement at a recent awards evening held at the Swansea Liberty Stadium.
The winning project was the Caldey Island Partnership Vehicle Team which has provided a multiagency response vehicle on Caldey Island to respond to all nature of emergencies. The nomination faced tough competition from projects in Carmarthen, Llanelli and Swansea.
Project co-ordinator Sion Slaymaker said:
“I am delighted that the hard work of the team has been recognised in this manner, especially given the calibre of the other nominations.”
Caldey Island manager Ben Childs confirmed the value of the resource:
“The addition of the partnership vehicle has proved its worth already this year by allowing the emergency services to quickly access medical incidents in more remote parts of the Island. I’m very grateful to Sion and his team for the provision of the vehicle which will be a huge asset for years to come”.
