Carmarthen cyclist joins Sir Bradley Wiggins team

Screen Shot 2016-04-20 at 09.28.46AWARD winning Carmarthenshire based IT Company BCC IT are pleased to see the local talent they sponsor included into Sir Bradley Wiggins team last month.

Carmarthen cyclist Scott Davies, a former Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bro Myrddin pupil was announced as a Team Wiggins rider during their official squad launch in February. The British development squad founded by Bradley Wiggins made their debut last season with four wins. Wiggins hopes to keep the momentum up this year and aim to be ‘the best development team’

Davies, aged 20 won the British U23 National Time Trial Championship in 2014 and 2015 as well as placing 10th whilst representing Wales at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games Road Race.

He guested for GB during 2014, and in 2015 he joined the British Cycling Olympic Academy Programme on a full-time basis.

Hywel Ifans, Managing Director of BCC IT, said: “Scott recently finished 6th and was the highest placed Briton in the Grand Prix de Lillers in France – a race which forms part of the Europe Tour 2016. He recently rode in the Coppi e Bartali in Italy between March 24 to 27, where he achieved a final classification of 23rd after completing all 4 stages, and managed to finish in 13th place in the final stage.”

Hywel added, “We are pleased to support such a great local talent, who has already achieved so much and we are confident we’ll continue to see him develop further this year. He has since also been competing in Le Tryptiques des Monts et Chateaux in Belgium between April 1st and 3rd, managing to finish stage 3a in 2nd place, and achieving a final classification of 6th place. We are already looking forward to seeing some more great results from him during the rest of the season and wish him the best of luck.”
