DEAN JONES was run out on the last ball of the innings as Llanelli ensured their game with Llandysul finished in a tie.

Llanelli won the toss and elected to bat but they were all out for 187 inside 50 overs.

Iwan Rees was the mainstay of the innings, but he received little support as wickets tumbled around him.

Andrew Richards was out early on when he was caught by Llewelyn Hughes off the bowling of Arfon Jones for a score of 12.

Ioan Phillips was sent back to the pavilion soon after, when he was caught by Rhidian Harris off the bowling of Dean Joens for a score of eight.

Craig Howells made seven before he was out, while the wicket of Rhidian Morgan, LBW to Harris, left Llanelli on 77-4.

Rees and Kyle Griffiths then shared 30 runs for the fifth wicket, before Griffiths was caught by Carwyn Evans off the bowling of Dean Jones for a score of 15.

Jones also removed Ben Edwards, before Iwan Rees was finally undone by Rhidian Harris.

Rees had scored an excellent 83 runs, in which he hit nine fours, but he was caught by Jordan Jones off the bowling of Harris to leave Llanelli 149-7.

Lewis Jones was then trapped leg before wicket by Harris before Alex Symmons and Vaughan Thomas shared 31 for the ninth wicket.

Thomas hit a four and a six in a score of 16 before he was trapped leg before wicket by Llewelyn Hughes.

Symmons made 17 but he was caught by Jordan Jones off the bowling of Iestyn Evans, and Llanelli’s innings came to a close with 187 runs on the scoreboard.

Llandysul got off to a slow start in their reply as they lost their top three batsmen for cheap runs.

Evans was out for a score of three when he was caught off the bowling of Vaughan Thomas, who then had Thomas Harris caught for a score of 11.

Meurig Jones also scored 11 before he was caught by Kyle Griffiths off the bowling of Andrew Dyer.

Rhidian Harris and Carwyn Evans then shared 65 for the fourth wicket as they led Llandysul’s recovery.

Evans was then bowled by Iwan Rees for a score of 22, but another good partnership of 75 was formed between Harris and Darrel Griffiths.

That partnership came to an end when Harris was stumped by Ben Edwards off the bowling of Kyle Griffiths for a score of 84, which included 12 fours.

Griffiths was out soon after when he was bowled by Andrew Dyer for a score of 25.

It looked as if Llandysul would edge over the line as Llewelyn Hughes and Dean Jones brought them to 187, level with Llanelli’s score.

However, Dyer then took the wicket of Hughes and Ieuan Paske in successive balls.

There was still a chance for Llandysul to claim victory but, on the last ball, Dean Jones was run out by Ben Edwards to seal a tied game.

The tie sees Llandysul pick up 17 points while Llanelli pick up 16 points for their efforts.
