Colts upset Ynystawe to go through

SWANSEA Senior League Division 2 side Plough Colts booked their place in the quarter finals of the West Wales Cup as they beat Division 1 side Ynystawe on Saturday (Feb 5).

The game finished 2-2 after 90 minutes and no further goals in extra time meant penalties would be needed.

Plough were victorious by four goals to two and they will now look forward to their next game in the competition.

It was Ynystawe who went ahead after half an hour though, Sam Brown with the goal for the hosts.

He then doubled their lead with an hour played but the Colts fired back soon after.

Jackson Brereton pulled one back for the Colts and with eight minutes to go, Mason Davies levelled the game.

In the shootout, Brown missed Ynystawe’s first penalty and David Murray scored for the Colts.

Noah Osbourne also missed and Callum Davies fired in to put the Colts 2-0 up.

Jason Beer and Rees Harris then both scored for Ynystawe but Theo Waters and Brereton scored to keep up Colts 100% record to seal a 4-2 shootout win.
