Neyland beat Johnston in Senior Cup

NEYLAND booked their place in the second round of the Senior Cup with a 5-0 win at Johnston on Saturday (Oct 1).

They took the lead after 17 minutes as Gary Hughes sent a cross into the box for Max Bowman-Davies and he headed back across goal for Sean Hannon to power a header into the net.

Just a minute later, Max Bowman-Davies picked the ball up near the half way line and he drove towards goal. His shot looped up and over the keeper and dropped into the net.

It remained 2-0 until half time but the game was all but over ten minutes into the second half as Bowman-Davies rounded the keeper before tuckong into an empty net.

Bowman-Davies then completed his hat trick to make it 4-0 as he fired into the roof of the net following a corner.

With a minute to go, Leon Barrett found sub Liam Rees and he drove a left foot shot from the edge of the box into the net to complete the scoring.

On Saturday, October 8, Neyland are in action in the first round of the West Wales Cup as they host Port Tennant Colts.

Johnston are back in action in Division 2 as they host Hakin United seconds.
