Hakin close the gap with win over Neyland

HAKIN United closed the gap on leaders Goodwick United with a 3-0 win over Neyland on Tuesday night (Apr 5).

Sadly, the result for Neyland means they can no longer get out of the bottom two and they will be playing their football in Division 2 next season.

However, much like their Senior Cup semi-final last week, Neyland made it difficult for their opponents despite going 1-0 down early on. The Vikings’ only scoring their third six minutes from the end.

Leon Luby put the Vikings ahead in the fifth minute after being set up by Jake Merry.

In the 36th minute a ball from keeper Sam Franklin set up Camron Thomas and he scored to make it 2-0 to the hosts.

Neyland battled well in the second half but were unable to find a goal which would have got them back in the game.

With six minutes to go Ryan Wilson scored to all but seal the points for the Vikings.

The win means Hakin are now ten points behind leaders Goodwick with three games in hand.

Next up for Hakin is their West Wales Cup semi-final against Seven Sisters with the game being played at Richmond Park in Carmarthen on Saturday, April 9, kick off 2:30pm.

Their next league game sees them take on Goodwick United on Tuesday, April 12.
