Hakin hit Monkton for six

HAKIN United maintained their excellent run of form with a 6-0 win over Monkton Swifts on Saturday (Feb 26).

Since losing to Goodwick in October, Hakin have gone on a 12-game winning streak in all competitions and Saturday’s league win sees them stay ten points behind leaders Goodwick with three games in hand.

They didn’t have it all their own way on Saturday though as Monkton battled well throughout and made things difficult for the Vikings in the opening thirty minutes.

However, it was Hakin who got the first goal of the game when Shane Walsh scored on 37 minutes. He then scored again on the stroke of half time to make it 2-0 to the home side.

Walsh then completed his hat trick seven minutes into the second half and he wasn’t finished there as he scored his and Hakin’s fourth on 70 minutes.

Justin Harding then scored a penalty to make it five and it was six two minutes from time as Ryan Wilson scored.

On Saturday, March 5, Monkton travel to league leaders Goodwick United.

Hakin are in action in the West Wales Cup quarter final as they take on Penlan Club.
