Brecon  4

Milford Haven   4

AFTER a long Christmas break of some eight weeks, Milford Haven Ladies made the long trip to Powys to play Brecon for their first game of 2019 on Saturday (Jan 26).

This is the first time Milford has played Brecon this season as the October game had to be cancelled due to inclement weather.

At the start of the game Milford’s long lay-off was soon to prove their undoing when a mix up in defence in the first 10 minutes saw Brecon scoring the opening goal.

After the goal Milford got their act together and dominated possession for the remainder of the half with Kate Farr a stalwart defender scoring a rare goal to equal the score at half time.

Captain Rachel Coe drilled into the players to up their efforts during her half time talk and the team responded almost immediately when Coe was 1 on 1 with the goalkeeper and struck to score a beautiful goal to take the lead.

This was quickly followed by a second from Coe after some good midfield work from Charlotte Davies who put a lovely through ball for Coe to latch onto. Charlotte Davies was again a prime mover in assisting Coe to score again and complete her hat trick.

With the Milford team tiring Brecon fought back and managed to put the ball in the back of net,

Milford defence tried hard to stop Brecon from scoring again but two short corners were awarded to Brecon consecutively to which they converted them both making the score 4-4.
