A LOCAL martial arts club is to hold a national competition in Milford Haven, which will attract people into the county from all over the UK, organisers have promised.

Slicks Martial Arts will be hosting their first competition in April. The ‘Pembrokeshire Open 2015’ will be the first competition of its kind in the area bringing people from all over the U.K to Pembrokeshire. This competition is open to all styles of martial arts and associations with people of different ages and experience competing for their chance to win a medal or title belt in the first Pembrokeshire Open.

The organiser, Steven Grant, told The Herald: “The aim of this competition is to bring people back to Pembrokeshire and to promote Milford Haven itself. I am really looking forward to the first Pembrokeshire Open to be held as it is a great opportunity for people of all ages from Pembrokeshire to have the chance to watch or compete in a competition like this without having to travel miles to get there”.

There will be points, continuous and title fights being held throughout the day. Steven says he is also hoping this is the first of many competitions to be held in Pembrokeshire and Pembrokeshire Open will become a yearly event.

The competition will be held at the Milford Haven Sea Cadets unit in Haven’s head business park on Sunday April 26.
