Superb Ammanford win again

AMMANFORD produced one of their best performances in recent seasons, as they made it three wins from three thanks to a scintillating 5-0 win over high flying Cwmbran Celtic.

After victories over Port Talbot Town and Ton Pentre, Ammanford produced their biggest victory of their season with an impressive, free-flowing performance at the Rec.

It took the home side just 19 minutes to open the scoring, as Liam Samuel continued his impressive run of games in front of goal, as his first time effort from the right flank of the box flew past the keeper.

Just five minutes later, Alfie Stottor added to the scoreline. The youngster started the move, before he was played in by Ricky Martin, and Stottor composed himself before firing home to double the lead.

Stottor made it seven league goals for the season, as he volleyed home a ferocious effort from the edge of the area after Brett Enoch’s darting run down the flank set up the former Haverfordwest player. His effort ricocheted off the bar to hand the hosts a 3-0 advantage heading into the interval.

In the second half, Cwmbran attempted to fight back and mounted a brief resurgence, but Gruff Harrison’s men shut down any hopes of comeback as they begun to pile on the pressure again.

Samuel and Stottor both went close, and Richie Lewis almost extended the lead when the Cwmbran shot stopper almost failed to collect a free kick.

Matthew Jones came on and rounded the keeper, but in a goalmouth scramble Ammanford failed to register another goal thanks to some hasty Cwmbran defending.

But, Mathew Fisher secured a fourth late on after a well worked move was rounded off by the attacker.

Elian Evans came on for his Ammanford debut following his switch from Penrhyncoch earlier this month, and Matthew Jones tapped home after Lloyd Davies’ effort was cleared off the line.
