Swifts blow Herbie away

MONKTON Swifts remain top of Division 1 after they eased to an 8-0 over bottom side Herbrandston on Saturday (Feb 23).

However, the score line does not tell the full picture as Herbie turned up for the game with eleven players and for the first 40 minutes they were well in it.

Herbie’s keeper also made a number of good saves to keep the scores level as Monkton searched for the breakthrough.

Unfortunately an injury meant one of their players had to go off and Herbie had to play the remainder of the game with ten men.

Ben Steele was in fine form for the Swifts as he scored a hat trick while Blake James and Dylan Davies also scored twice.

Monkton’s top scorer James Russell also got on the score sheet as they maintained their four point lead at the top of the table.

On Saturday (Mar 2) Monkton are at home once more as they take on rivals Pennar Robins.
Herbrandston are away as they travel to St Clears.
