THE FIFTH round of the Welsh Road Rally Championship was held in Llanfyllin near Welshpool on Saturday (May 7). The event was the Border 100 rally held by The Welsh Border Car Club.

Many crews from TVMC made their way up to north Wales for what was found to be a tough and challenging route for both drivers and navigators. With thunder and rain at the beginning of the evening it was destined to be a wet event, but conditions improved during the course of the evening.

There was a non-finish for Chris Hill with his navigator Fiona Balchin from Lampeter Motor Club. Also Jamie Jones failed to finish in his Subaru Impreza.

Barry Davies and Gethin Sollis finished 19th overall (7th in the Experts class). Eifion Thomas and Rob Stephens were 14th overall, and with this they won the Semi- Expert class.

Another top ten finish for Wyn Owens and Jenny Evans who were 2nd in the Expert class and 10th overall. Dafydd-Sion Lloyd, who was navigating for Tomos Lewis of Aberystwyth Motor Club finished 9th overall and won the Expert class. This resulted in some good Welsh Championship points for Dafydd-Sion and keeps him in contention for the navigators championship.

Best placed Teifi Valley member was Aled Richards. He was navigating for Kevin Davies of Carmarthen Motor club. They finished a fantastic 5th overall and 4th in the Masters class.
