DAFEN travelled to Skewen seeking a second win of the season, which would consolidate their position towards the top of the table.

Rain during the week produced a softish and damp wicket, leading Dafen skipper Dan Vaughan to ask Skewen to bat first on winning the toss.

An early wicket fell when Matthew Evans athletically caught and bowled Jordan Jones. Skewen then batted cautiously and without losing further wickets until Evans removed John Lewis to another good catch; this time from Gethin Long diving forward at mid-on.

From 40-1 Dafen then turned the screw, with Chris Hudson (2-18) bowling five consecutive maidens and picking up 2 wickets. In the blink of an eye it was 49-6. After a brief midinnings partnership, the spin of Phil George (2-4) and the pace of Scott Phillips (3-18) finished things of as the last 4 wickets fell for 5 runs and Skewen were all out for 69.

In response the Skewen bowlers stuck to their task well and made scoring tricky. Evans fell for 24 and a couple more wickets followed before Jamie Mansel (22 not out) and Long (7 not out) saw Dafen home at 73-3.

Dafen secured 25 points from the match and Skewen just 2.
