Rhodri Williams: Committed despite leading at the end of the season

SCRUM half Rhodri Williams has spoken of his desire to ensure he helps the Scarlets reach the play-offs following on from the news that he will depart the region at the end of the season.

Williams believes the Scarlets have what it takes to compete for a top two-spot and a home play-off draw despite being overtaken in the last week by Connacht (1st) and Ulster (2nd).

Speaking earlier this week Williams said: “We want to get back to winning ways, especially at home, and keep pushing for the top spots. A few results haven’t gone our way but we can hopefully put things right this week.

“We set goal of top four at start of season but we have to take each game as they come. We now have a goal of hopefully having a home semi-final.”

He went on to say: “We did well at start of season during the World Cup, hopefully we can keep it going and get those results.”

Commenting on his departure from his home region Williams said: “It was a difficult decision leaving, I’ve been here from a young age. I’ve had my chances with Scarlets and I’m very thankful for what they’ve done for my career.

“I’ve been here five seasons and have enjoyed my time here. I still have huge part to play from now until end of season and there’s still plenty to do before I leave.

“I’m totally focused on Scarlets and helping to push on to the playoffs.”
