Wizards late show stuns Narberth

Narberth 4
Merlins Bridge 7

merlins bridgeIT was goals galore at Jesse Road last Saturday as Merlins Bridge collected maximum points. Merlins Bridge started brightly and were soon two goals to the good as Scott Crawford and Dai Davies found the back of the net. Narberth pulled a goal back shortly before half time, following a short corner, Narberth player/manager Matthew Price crossed for Marc Hughes to head into the top corner.

The home side scored two early goals in the second half, both of which were scored by Matthew Price, although, the Bridge camp felt the second goal was offside. Narberth were not ahead for long, as Steve McNabney set up Nathan Greene to make it 3-3 and Crawford headed home a corner to put the Bridge ahead again.

Matthew Price completed his hattrick and levelled matters again for Narberth with a fine curling effort to set up an exciting last quarter. However, it was Bridge that finished stronger as substitute Lee Hudgell set up Greene for a tap in and two deflected goals from McNabney completed the scoring. The win for the Bridge keeps them second in the table going into the Christmas break.

They return to action on January 3 when they travel to the league’s bottom side Saundersfoot Sports. Narberth are also in action on January 3 as they play Tenby in the Senior Cup with kick off at 2pm.
