12 YEAR-OLD Shannon Hayes had a cracking discovery when she went to collect the eggs from her hen coop last week.
The Ysgol Gyfun Emlyn pupil discovered what she believes may be the worlds smallest egg which could break the world record!
“We’ve gone on the internet and looked at the Guinness Book of World Records and as far as we can see there is no record but the smallest that we have found so far was bigger than a 5p piece. We have never seen one that tiny,” said her grandmother, Pamela.
Shannon is trying to keep this mini egg seriously safe. Pamela commented: “At the moment we are trying to keep it and find out more about it and find out if anyone managed to find anything smaller.”
Shannon cares for seven chickens, she feeds them and even gives them a ‘cwtch’.
Many have reported tiny eggs in hope of cracking the world record but this eggs-traordi nary one might just whisk it up as it measures at least 2mm smaller than ones she has researched.
