Brace’s Bakery makes changes to loaves after 25 years

SYNONYMOUS with bacon butties and hot buttered toast, the family owned Brace’s Bakery have just announced changes to their much-loved bread, the first change to their loaves in 25 years.

Following feedback from their customers that their ‘Thick’ loaf wasn’t actually that thick, the Brace’s team have listened to the demands of the people and updated their range to better suit the needs of their customers.

The reclassification of the Welsh born and ‘bread’ classic is as follows:

  • Medium is now Thin (10.2mm thickness)
  • Thick is now Medium (12.55m thickness)
  • Xtra Thick is now Thick (14.4mm thickness)
  • XXX Thick is now XX Thick (16.3mm thickness)

The re-classified loaves are available across the White, Wholemeal, Dark Wholemeal and 50% White and Wholemeal ranges.

Not only have the sizes been reclassified, recipes been improved to ensure a softer loaf for longer.

The shape of the loaves has changed to a new tall loaf and will be known as ‘Luxury’ loaves. The new taller loaves promise bigger and better sandwiches, but for those who are worried they’re a little tall for the toaster the traditional square sliced offerings will still be available and will be branded the ‘long loaf’.

Though the packaging has been updated bringing new-look-loaves, the ‘colour-ways’ remain unchanged. This means that customers won’t find themselves accidently buying Thick when they normally fly the flag for Medium, as long as they stick to the colour coding they’re familiar with. The new packaging will also feature a clear panel on the top for a sneak-peek to ensure the desired thickness.

The revamp from Brace’s also sees all products receive a design update and new arrivals in the form of brand new loaves, the ‘Luxury Doorstep’ (the thickest loaf at 19mm thickness)and ‘Malted Grain’ long loaf.

Jonathan Brace, Director of Brace’s Bread, said: “We’ve listened closely to our customers who told us that our loaves weren’t as thick as they expected them to be based on the name. We hope our revamp shows we take the voice of our customers seriously and that they like the new width classification, taste and shape as much as we do.

“We’re proud to be a family run business for over 100 years and we’re excited to introduce changes to our products that are as fresh as our bread.”
