AT A CABINET meeting of Pembrokeshire County Council, members have conditionally approved a 5% increase in council tax, which will raise an extra £2.5 million for the Authority to spend.

Council leader, Jamie Adams, said yesterday that despite the 5% increase, Pembrokeshire will still have the lowest council tax in Wales.

The increase means that householders in the middle band, Band D, will see an annual increase of £40, to £841, for the coming financial year.

Further increases of 5% a year until the year 2020 are also planned.
