FALLEN big bales of straw blocked the A482 road north of Llanwrda on Monday afternoon (Oct 10), but prolonged closure was avoided by the fortuitous arrival of Eleri Grace, a flat-bed lorry with lifting gear.
The bales in the road were quickly scooped up and replaced in position. A long queue of traffic had formed but, because of the lifting apparatus on Eleri Grace, the whole incident was over in the space of half an hour.
Heavy vehicles on the A482 Llanwrda to Aberaeron road have to contend with sharp bends, narrow bridges and low tree branches in this gorge-like section of the Dulais river valley, between one and two miles north of Llanwrda.
