LLYS CERDD, a long-empty terraced house in a prominent corner position in the north Carmarthenshire village of Llansawel, is no longer an eyesore thanks to renovations by Carmarthenshire County Council.

The rotting windows and front door have been replaced, and both chimneys have been rebuilt. The leaking chimneys were letting water in to adjacent properties.

The Herald understands that the elderly owner is in residential accommodation and could not manage the repairs himself. Carmarthenshire’s empty property co-ordinator, Leighton Evans, took charge and organised the extensive renovations.

“The work is as a result of our intervention, which was ultimately to prevent further detriment to the adjoining properties”, he said.
