POLICE searching for a man in Carmarthen who managed to escape custody whilst in handcuffs have made an arrest.
The arrest was made in Priory Street around 3pm on Thursday March 19; an hour after a manhunt was launched with officers and a police helicopter assisting the search.
A Dyfed-Powys Police spokeswoman said: “Police in Carmarthen had detained two people in a vehicle. Whilst undertaking a search of the vehicle one of the males made off.”
A further statement read: “The male has been found and arrested on suspicion of obstructing police. He is currently in police custody.”
One local shop owner said there was a large police presence in the town as officers went from store to store in search of the man.
