03:50 – These are the results for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire:

Simon Hart – Conservative – 19,771
Marc Tierney – Labour – 16,661
Abi Thomas – Plaid Cymru – 3,933
Alistair Cameron – Liberal Democrats – 956
Phil Edwards – Ukip – 905

02:11 – Jonathan Edwards held Carmarthen East and Dinefwr for Plaid Cymru, gaining 1,000 more votes than in 2015. However, David Darkin (Lab) and Havard Hughes (Con) actually saw larger increases in their vote.

The main casualty was UKIP’s Neil Hamilton, who saw his party lose 3,500 votes from 2015, when candidate Norma Woodward was deselected by the local party before being reinstated.

02:07 – CARMARTHEN EAST AND DINEFWR RESULTS

Jonathan Edwards (Plaid) 16,127
David Darkin (Lab) 12,219
Havard Hughes (Con) 10,778
Neil Hamilton (UKIP) 985
Lesley Prosser (Lib) 920

01:02 – Plaid Cymru’s Jonathan Edwards predicted that his party had done enough to hold Carmarthen East and Dinefwr. Speaking to The Herald, he said that he had expected a comfortable victory for the Conservatives ahead of the Exit polls. Mr Edwards added that the current situation would be advantageous for his party.

“It makes politics very interesting, especially for our party, because we will be in a position to gain some leverage,” he explained.

“We are not going to settle for second class status for Wales. We are looking for ways to strengthen our constitution and avoid the significant risk posed by Brexit.”

Talking about the current political climate, he remarked that ‘we live in very unusual times in politics’.

00:34 – The turnout in Carmarthen East and Dinefwr was 73.3% this year. Once again this was an increase on 2015, when 70.7% of the electorate voted.

23:05 – An image of the counting:

22:56 – The counting has begun for Carmarthen East and Dinefwr.

22:53  The exit polls seem to resonate with what Plaid Cymru and Labour have been experiencing on the doorstep in Carmarthen East. Labour candidate David Darkin told us that the picture had changed significantly over the course of this brief campaign. “Once the Labour manifesto came out we started getting a much better response,” he added, claiming that the Conservative manifesto – an ‘own goal’ – also improved the response his own party got.

22:37 – Counting is well underway in the Selwyn Samuel Centre. While nationally the exit polls are indicating a big swing towards Labour, it will be interesting to see whether this will be replicated on a local scale. Nia Griffith held Llanelli for Labour with an increased majority in 2015, while Jonathan Edwards won comfortably for Plaid Cymru in Carmarthen East and Dinefwr.

No Carmarthen East and Dinefwr boxes are in yet, so all tables are currently counting Llanelli ballots.
