LLANDEILO’S plans for the annual Festival of Senses, from Friday, November 18 to Sunday, November 20, include a ‘park and ride’, so visitors do not have to try and bring their vehicles into town.

Parking will be offered at the closed Tregib School on the Bethlehem road in Ffairfach, and atDinefwr Home Farm off the A40. The scheme will operate on Friday, November 18 from 5pm to 9pm, and on Saturday, November 19 from 10am to 5pm.

Attractions for the expected thousands of visitors will be spaced all over town. For craft stalls, the Civic Hall in Crescent Road is the place. The main stage will be in King Street near the top of the churchyard, where the line-up features 20 bands, choirs and entertainers, from Côr y Scarlets to Crazy Clayton Children’s Entertainment. The acts on the main stage perform on Friday evening, Saturday daytime and Sunday afternoon from 12pm.

A big food tent will be in the main car park, off Crescent Road, and the former Horeb Chapel, now part of the Cawdor Hotel, is the place for fashion seekers.

“The Festival of the Senses is now one of the biggest and all-inclusive events of its kind,” said Tracey Kindred, chair of the Festival Committee and proprietor of the Heavenly Chocolate Shop and the Angel Pub and Bistro in Rhosmaen Street. “This year’s event hosts more entertainment, shopping events and a host of amazing food and drink.”

Friday visitors are invited to shop during the evening, as the shops and stalls will be open, and the Christmas lights will be switched on. The son et lumière continues with a fireworks display from Penlan Park.

“We aim to offer something for everyone, and at no charge to the visitor,” said Tracey Kindred. “The town is geared up and looking forward to welcoming record numbers of visitors this year.”
