A MAN has died after his van left the B4317 road from Pontyberem to Drefach at around 9.15pm on Wednesday (Mar 2).
Rescue crews from Tumble and Pontyates attended the incident and used hydraulic cutting equipment along with other apparatus to free the man, who was later taken to hospital by ambulance.
However police have said that the male driver did not survive.
A spokesperson for Dyfed-Powys said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision that is believed to have occurred sometime between 9.10pm and 9.20pm on Wednesday 2 March on the B4317 between Pontyberem and Tumble.
“A white Citroen van left the road and collided with a tree. Sadly the male driver did not survive.
“Police appeal for any motorists that travelled that section of road around that time, or have information that may assist the investigation, to contact Dyfed Powys Roads Policing Department at Carmarthen on 101”.
