Man hospitalised after van crashes down embankment

A VAN has crashed down an embankment on Dyffryn Road in Ammanford this morning (Mar 30) which has left one man in hospital.

Two people were in the van at the time of the incident and were able to get out of the vehicle.

Dyfed-Powys Police, the Welsh Ambulance Service and Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene.

The man, who was later transported to Morriston Hospital in Swansea, had to be carried up the embankment on a stretcher.

The road was closed as he received medical assistance and the vehicle was recovered.

A spokesperson for the Welsh Ambulance Service said: “We sent an emergency ambulance to the scene, where our crew were supported by doctors from the Emergency Medical Retrieval and Transfer Service (EMRTS) Cymru, and a man was taken to Swansea’s Morriston Hospital.”

A MAWWFRS spokesperson said: “We were called at 9.01am this morning to a one-vehicle collision on Dyffryn Road.

“Two crews from Ammanford were sent to the scene. Two people were out of the vehicle on arrival and one was assisted from the embankment with the use of a stretcher.

“The vehicle has now been recovered.”
