MARK WILLIAMS, Member of Parliament for Ceredigion, has praised the humanitarian work of the New Life Christian Church in Cardigan and their work in building a new school in Keko, a slum area of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.

Mark met with Doug and Janice Bell, Overseeing Pastors at the church, who outlined the plans and the work so far.

The church has so far raised £25,000, which has enabled them to purchase the land and begin building work. The school will train teachers as well as local young children in an area where education is lacking and many are forced to live on the streets.

Mark said: “I was very impressed with the commitment of the church to build this school. I have visited Dar es Salaam myself and have seen first-hand the challenges in providing education for young people in the city.

“The church has inspired many people locally to contribute their time, resources and money on this fantastic initiative and I look forward to hearing of the schools completion in the not too distant future.”
