A PERSON has died this morning (Mar 30) after being hit by a train which was travelling between Aberystwyth and Machynlleth.
The incident took place around 8am at the Llandre level crossing, which resulted in train services being cancelled.
Replacement buses are currently running between Aberystwyth and Machynlleth.
A British Transport Police spokesperson said: “Officers have been called to Llandre level crossing in Wales following reports that a person was struck by a train. The alert was made shortly after 8am.
“BTP are on scene alongside paramedics and Dyfed-Powys Police however a person has sadly been pronounced dead. Officers are now working to identify the person and inform her family. ”
Arriva Train Wales said: “Train services to and from these stations may be subject to disruption on all routes.”
The disruption is expected to last until at least 11am.
