Police advice for safe online shopping this Christmas

fraud-policeONLINE shoppers are urged to be cyber secure when making online purchases for Christmas by Dyfed-Powys Police.

PCSO Andrew Griffiths from the police said: “Every year there’s a mad rush as shoppers go online to order presents in time for Christmas.

“Online shopping can be a great convenience for Christmas shoppers, but we also need to stay vigilant and take care with what we’re buying, who we’re buying from as well as how to pay for purchases.”

Key things to think of are:

• Ensure the website you are buying from is legitimate. Carry out a bit of research to find customer reviews.
• When you reach the payment stage, ensure the web address shows ‘https’ and a padlock symbol.
• Use a safe method of payment such as a credit card or PayPal.
