Police cordon off Tesco after possible attempted child abduction [UPDATED]

POLICE OFFICERS responded to a report of a possible attempted child abduction at Tesco in Carmarthen this evening (Dec 5).

The incident, which took place at approximately 6:30pm, resulted in Tesco being put in lockdown as a police cordon was put in place.

The Herald understands the child was not taken and there was no physical contact made. The child is now safe and well with their family and police officers.

Following an investigation, the scene has now been released and access to and from the supermarket is permitted once more.

A police spokesperson said: “We are grateful for the co-operation of the public, and thank everyone for their patience whilst we worked to resolve this. The investigation is ongoing.”
