A BETHANIA offender appeared at Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (Aug 17) to face an offence of affray, which occurred on July 9 at Felinfach.
A further two offences – possession of a knife blade in a public place on July 9 at Felinfach and interfering with a Dodge Calibre vehicle without lawful authority at Llwyncelyn on July 9 – were discontinued.
Stacey Ann Marie Knight, 21, of Cross Inn, pleaded guilty to the affray offence.
Prosecutor Stephen Davies told the court that the offence occurred in a domestic context. On the day in question, police received a phone call from Felinfach regarding the defendant, who had a couple of knives in her hand while making threats.
Police learned that earlier in the day, the complainant, a male friend of the defendant, went shopping with Knight at Aldi and when they finished, Knight said she would take the bus home. At 7.30pm, the male received a Facebook message from the defendant telling him that she was stuck in New Quay and needed a lift home.
While in the car with the male, the defendant interfered with the vehicle and pulled the handbrake while making threats.
Mr Davies continued to say that at 8.30pm at her home, Knight pulled a bread knife from the kitchen drawer and held it towards her female friend, the other complainant, while she made phone call outside the house.
As Knight made her way through her hallway, she pointed another knife at the male when he entered the house and as the female complainant left the house, she made a phone call to the police.
When the officers arrived at the property, the defendant continued her threatening behaviour and they found broken glass and utensils on the floor.
In a statement, the male complainant said he was concerned for the defendant’s mental health despite her appearing calm earlier that day.
Defending, Stephen Welch explained that with no previous convictions, Knight accepts responsibility and the offence would be placed as a Category 3 offence.
Magistrates imposed an adjournment until September 7 at Aberystwyth Magistrates’ Court for an all options report to be prepared.
Knight was released on bail and told not to enter Felinfach and not to contact the complaintants directly or indirectly.
