Trains cancelled after man killed near Kidwelly

A SECOND person has died this month after being hit by a train in the Kidwelly area this morning (May 30).

Trains have been cancelled and replacement buses and taxis are operating.

Commuters should expect delays between Carmarthen and Swansea.

The incident occurred just weeks after a man in his 60s died at a level crossing between Pembrey and Kidwelly.

Arriva Trains Wales wrote: “Network Rail report that a deceased person has been discovered on the lines in the Kidwelly area.

“Emergency services and rail staff are on site. No time can yet be given for reopening the lines until British Transport Police conclude their full investigation into this incident.

“British Transport Police on site are waiting for a specialist Scene of Crime unit to arrive from Bristol – that is now estimated at 9am.”
