A CONSTRUCTION worker on the site of a new factory unit for Gower View Foods has been killed in an incident with a digger.
The site is located near Dawn Pac on Heol Ty Newydd in Cross Hands.
The incident happened shortly after 8am on Tuesday (Apr 21), but the 22-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called shortly after 8am this morning, Tuesday 21 April, to an incident on Heol Ty Newydd in Cross Hands, Llanelli.”
A spokesperson from the Welsh Ambulance service said: “We sent a rapid response car and two emergency ambulances to the scene, where sadly a man was pronounced dead. We took a second man to Llanelli’s Prince Philip Hospital for a precautionary check-up.”
A statement from Dyfed-Powys Police reads: “We are investigating an incident involving a JCB type machine that occurred on Heol Ty Newydd, Crosshands at approx. 8.05 this morning. A 22-year-old man was injured and ambulance personnel attended but he died at the scene. Health and Safety Executive have been informed.”
