FAMILIES from across Swansea will make use of a range of council-run fun activities and attractions this summer.
With local school summer holidays due to start in the coming days, Swansea Council wants to ensure that there’s something for everybody.
Things to do during the long break include low-cost and free activities, and visits to entertaining locations.
Council cabinet member Robert Francis-Davies said: “There’s lots to see and do in Swansea this summer. Families won’t have to look too far for fun and entertainment.
“We’re delighted to help people enjoy the traditional summer holiday in a variety of sociable and memorable ways.”
Swansea’s many council-run parks and beaches – three with blue flag status – are great for picnics and adventures.
Other outdoor attractions include the pedalos in Singleton Park, the free-of-charge Blackpill Lido and crazy golf in Mumbles’ Southend Gardens and in Singleton Park.
Live theatre fans can enjoy outdoor shows in the scenic setting of Oystermouth Castle. Outdoor Theatre performances this year are Twelfth Night on August 9 and Peter Rabbit on August 10.
The castle also plans to hold a Prince and Princesses Day on August 28, featuring characters, music and storytelling.
The council’s cultural venues and libraries will be running many free indoor events and activities throughout the holidays.
The Dylan Thomas Centre, the Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea Museum and the National Waterfront Museum all plan free events, with many hosting workshops and drop-in sessions. Residents simply need to call in to see what’s on offer.
