Temporary road changes announced for Wales Airshow

The Red Arrows - a major attraction for the 2023 Wales Airshow

A RANGE of temporary road changes have been announced to ensure that tens of thousands of people can enjoy this year’s Wales Airshow safely.

The free-entry two-day event is due to take place on July 1 and 2 with a series of world-class displays over Swansea Bay.

Temporary road changes for the 2023 show are the same as those that were in place for last summer’s highly successful event.

They will include seafront sections of Oystermouth Road and Mumbles Road, a number of roads in Sandfields plus Pantycelyn Road, Townhill. Diversions will be signposted.

Swansea Prom, from the Civic Centre to Sketty Lane, will be not be accessible to cyclists from 7am June 29 to 11pm July 4.

Emergency access will be maintained at all times and access to the Marina, Singleton Hospital and Swansea University will remain. Other directly affected businesses and organisations have been notified.

Safety for all remains a key priority on what will be a busy weekend in the city. Arrangements are in place for spectator parking and access, with facilities such as park and ride in place.

Council cabinet member Robert Francis-Davies said: “We thank everybody in advance for their cooperation and understanding.”

People with road access concerns or event-related issues over the two days of the airshow can phone the dedicated resident and business contact line on 01792 635428 from 10am-6.30pm. Other queries: [email protected] – 01792 635428 (normal office hours).
