A Chandler brace sends Nomads fifth

Neyland 4
Monkton Swifts 2

neyland AfcNEYLAND moved up to fifth in the league with a 4-2 victory over Monkton Swifts on Saturday (Dec 13). Michael Chandler opened the scoring with 12 minutes gone when his first time shot beat the keeper. He doubled the scoring with 25 minutes gone again tapping home from a good cross. Early in the second half, the Nomads went 3-0 up when Craig George unfortunately put the ball into his own net.

George atoned for his miss soon after when he crossed for Blake James who tapped the ball in from six yards. That goal gave the visitors some hope of a comeback but with fifteen minutes to go Neyland made sure of the points when Gary Power shot across goal to make it 4-1. Dan Scourfield headed the ball home in injury time but that would turn out to just be a consolation as Neyland held on to win 4-2. On Saturday (Dec 20), Neyland are away to Tenby and Monkton take on Angle.
