CARDIGAN are through to the last 16 of the WRU National Bowl after an excellent 13-8 win over Betws last weekend.
The Teifisiders kicked off their Bowl campaign with an easy first round win against St Davids, winning by 90 points to seven.
In round two, they were given a much sterner task as they beat Laugharne 45-29.
The third round also saw them come up against tough opponents in the form of Usk, but they eventually came out on top, winning 10-7 after extra time.
The Ceredigion side have also been going well in the league so far this season and currently find themselves in fourth place but, on Saturday (Dec 10), they turned their attentions to Betws for an exciting Bowl match.
Betws are based just outside Ammanford and currently play in Division Three West B. However, they have struggled this season, winning just two of their eight league matches.
Despite that form, they were still a threat to Cardigan in the cup and the Tiefisiders knew they would have be on top of their game to progress.
Going into the game, Cardigan have won six of their eight league matches so far, with one draw and one defeat to their name.

Cardigan have shown their battling qualities throughout the league campaign and they have the players to hurt Betws, which they were hoping to use to good effect.
The weather for the game on Saturday (Dec 10) wasn’t great but both sides put on a good display for the fans.
Rob Connolly scored Cardigan’s only try of the game in the first half and Luke Rogers added the extra two points.
Rogers then scored two further penalties to increase his side’s lead.
Betws’ Tom Williams responded with a penalty to reduce the half time score to 3-13.
As conditions worsened in the second half, try scoring opportunities were limited but the home side scored when Ashley Evans went over to close the gap further.
However, the conversion was missed and Cardigan hung on in the closing stages to book their place in the last 16 of the Bowl.
Cardigan will now look forward to taking on Denbigh at home with that game taking place on Saturday, January 14.
Denbigh play their rugby in National League Two North West, where they currently sit second.
