St Davids 14

FISHGUARD AND GOODWICK made sure of their monumental victory over local rivals St Davids, running in 18 tries to win the Seagulls Cup 184 – 24 on aggregate, having beaten St Davids 76-10 earlier in the season.

St Davids were missing some key players, many of whom were instrumental in the Saints first league victory of the season.

The Seagulls, looking impressive on a firm Moor pitch considering the rain were given a battle up front by St Davids, with skipper Rhys ‘Loshyn’ Price leading by example. However, as soon as the Seagulls backs were released with quick ball, the speed and precision they operated at split the St Davids defence apart, even after some courageous tackling, led by centre Scott Riches.

Fishguard’s impressive 18 tries were scored by James Griffiths (4) who converted 9 tries. Rhys Lewis and Mike Jenkins scored a hat trick each. Ed Bendall and Gareth Adamson scored 2 apiece. There was also a try each for Sam Kurtz, Gavin Walsh, Rhodri Morgans and Jonnie Vatu.

St Davids scored via a penalty try, along with a try from Darren Davies, both were converted by John Miles.

The Seagulls, with two games in hand sit in second place and travel to Aberaeron on Saturday (Feb 28) while St Davids sit at the bottom of the table, they welcome St Clears on Saturday (Feb 28).
