Cruel rule sees Crymych out of SWALEC Plate

Crymych 15
Newcastle Emlyn 15

crymych rfcIT WAS heartbreak for Crymych as they bowed out of the SWALEC Plate after drawing with Newcastle Emlyn 15 all after an absorbing game, which included extra time, as cup rules state the away team goes through in such circumstances. Crymych started the brightest and got an early try from Andrew Phillips, converted by Sam Phillips and an unconverted try from Carwyn Jones.

Emlyn replied with a try from Dan Davies which was converted by Rhydian Harries as Crymych led 12-7 at the break. Try scorer, Carwyn Jones added a drop goal for the Preseli men, however, again Emlyn replied through centre Davies who touched down for his second and Rhydian Harries added a penalty after missing the conversion. The game went to extra time and both sides tried all that they could to break down the opposition defence however no side could make the break, and it was Emlyn who celebrated after a tough contest.
