Felinfoel (220-4) beat Margam (217-9) by 6 wkts

TOM JONES hit eight fours and five sixes as he blasted Felinfoel to victory over Margam on Saturday (Jun 25) .

It had looked like Felinfoel might fall shor t , but Jones’ late hitting saw him score 78 off only 43 balls as his side reached their target with only eight balls to spare.

Earlier, Felinfoel won the toss and chose to field and Anthony Mathias claimed two early wickets.

Stuart Parmenter also took the wicket of Matthew Jenkins for 18 and Josh Wellington while Tom Jones picked up the wicket of Anish Patel.

Those three wickets reduced Margam to 89-5 but a partnership of 93 between Luke O’Connor and Gareth Baker pushed them towards 200.

O’Connor was first to fall when he was caught by Corey Griffiths off the bowling of Rhys Harries for a score of 82 , which included 12 fours and a six and came off 93 balls.

Baker finished not out on 48 as other wickets fell around him as Margam finished on 217-9.

There were also 29 extras given away by the Felinfoel bowlers.

Felinfoel lost two early wickets in their repl y , but a partnership of 88 between Stuart Parmenter and Rhys Harries got the home side going.

Harries was the third man out as he was bowled by Luke O’Connor for a score of 47 , which came off 78 balls and included four fours and a six.

Ieuan Williams was trapped leg before wicket by John Wellington to leave Felinfoel on 117-4.

Margam were unable to take any further wickets as Parmenter and Tom Jones guided Felinfoel to victory with an excellent partnership of 103.

Parmenter finished not out on 60 which came off 111 balls , but having made a slow start , Tom Jones picked up the pace in the final overs.

Jones hit eight fours and five sixes to finish not out on a score of 78 which came off only 43 balls.

The win gives Felinfoel 25 points which sees them stay top of the table and extend their lead over second placed Baglan.
