KIWI KADLEIGH PARKES has made a huge impact at the Scarlets since his arrival and has this year played every minute of Guinness PRO12 action, more than any other players in the league.

As well as playing every single minute of domestic action for the Scarlets Parkes has also taken the captaincy reins in Ken Owens, Scott Williams and John Barclay’s absence.

His performances speak for themselves and his leadership qualities are evident to see with the Kiwi born centre leading by example.

Parkes led the Scarlets to a 24-15 victory over Benetton Treviso at Parc y Scarlets on Friday night and he says that despite the heavy workload he is still very much enjoying his time in West Wales.

He said: “I’m enjoying it, it’s a lot of fun. To earn your living doing something you love is pretty cool, I’m really enjoying it and enjoying playing footy in West Wales at the moment.”

Reflecting on the victory over Treviso Parkes went on to say: “I think we started pretty well, we probably made too many errors, didn’t try and play through them enough and let them come back into the game.

“When they went ahead I think we did well to get that try and then putting the result beyond doubt. We pushed for that final try but didn’t quite get it.

“We like to keep supporters and sponsors on their edge of their seats but if you’re winning and you’re winning ugly you’re fine. We’d obviously prefer for it to be a lot nicer than that, we haven’t won too many times with a bonus point this year but I think we’re still going relatively well, we’re in a great position.

“We are winning some of those big games which is crucial for us. Ulster away was a huge one for us and coming in the next game will be a local derby – if we can get over the line with that one we’ll be in a very good position.”

Scarlets will return to the Parc on Saturday April 2 to take on Cardiff Blues before the final home game of the season on Saturday 16th April against Glasgow Warriors.
