OUTSIDE HALF Steven Shingler will leave Parc y Scarlets at the end of the season to join fellow Guinness PRO12 side and Welsh region Cardiff Blues.

Shingler has made 63 appearances for the Scarlets, to date, in four season scoring 322 points.

The 24-year-old made his Scarlets debut in a pre-season friendly against Gloucester in August 2010 and after five appearances in the regional jersey Shingler headed across the border joining London Irish on a two-year deal.

Shingler returned to the Scarlets ahead of the 2013-14 season and is currently fifth on the region’s Guinness PRO12 leading points scorers list.

A knee injury in the victory over Edinburgh at the Parc will keep Shingler sidelined with an end of season return likely.

Commenting on the news Scarlets Head Coach Wayne Pivac said: “Steve has always been a player who has given his all to the club when selected and we wish him well in his move to Cardiff Blues.

“Steve is unfortunately currently out with a knee injury and we look forward to him returning before the end of the season as he is still very much part of the squad that is striving to meet the team goals.”

Steve Shingler said: “Firstly, I’d like to thank Scarlets for their support over the last few seasons. I’m very much looking forward to making a return from injury before the end of the season and helping the Scarlets in the final push for silverware.

“I’m looking forward to the new challenge ahead with Cardiff Blues next season but the focus remains fully on the Scarlets until the end of the season.”
