Ex-soldier jailed for night vision burglaries

_91010164_mediaitem91010162AN EX-SOLDIER who carried out a 10-month burglary spree around Wales using night vision goggles has been jailed.

Garry Roughley, 35, of no fixed abode, targeted homes where bogus leaflets he put through their letterbox had not been picked up.

He was jailed for six years after admitting nine burglaries and other offences.

Caernarfon Crown Court was told that Roughley lived in a tent and had carried out the thefts between September 2015 and July 2016.

His list of items stolen includes a Mercedes and Honda Jazz.

He pleaded guilty to nine counts of house burglary, going equipped for theft and fraud, with a dozen burglaries considered in total.

Dyfed-Powys Police and North Wales Police worked together to catch him, describing him as a “prolific offender.”
