‘It’s fantastic being able to speak Welsh at last!’

HAVE you always wanted to learn Welsh, but never got around to it? Well now’s the time to start learning with Learn Welsh courses starting up again in Cardigan.

Most classes will have room for new students alongside those who started courses in the autumn. There are day and evening courses, for all levels (apart from those who haven’t learned any Welsh at all before, who should contact the organisers to find out how to learn before the new courses begin again in October).

If you can already say ‘Bore da. Dw i’n byw yn Aberteifi’, if you’re already fluent but wanting to polish your skills, or any level in between, you’ll be given a warm welcome. There are classes for those wanting to learn quickly, (4 hours a week in class, either in a long morning or spread over 2 evenings) as well as easier paced courses of 2 hours a week.

One student said: “I can’t believe how much time we spend laughing, and then come out of class having learned loads!” “The course materials and the tutors give support all the way, and there’s help on-line too.

”“There’s a really informal and friendly atmosphere in the class.”

Fluent Welsh-speakers come into classes regularly to speak Welsh with the students. This helps students to develop the confidence to use their Welsh outside of class. There are also free social groups for learners to get more practice and support.

If you’d like to make 2018 the year you really get to grips with Welsh (or if you’d like to help learners occasionally in the short informal practice sessions), then contact Philippa Gibson [email protected] 01239 654561.
