Man rushed to hospital after being involved in collision on A48

A MAN has been taken to hospital after a crash involving a van and a lorry on a main road in Carmarthenshire.

The collision happened shortly before 8.30am on Tuesday (23 July) near the Cwmgwili junction on the A48 between Cross Hands and Pont Abraham.

The eastbound stretch of the dual carriageway was closed for more than two hours as police officers, fire crews and ambulance personnel all worked at the scene.

A man who was medically trapped in one of the vehicles had to be cut free by fire crews using hydraulic cutters and spreaders.

He has been taken to Morriston Hospital in Swansea with injuries that are not thought to be life threatening.
